 
Napkin FoldingSince the turn of the last century it has been considered in bad taste to use napkin rings. The habit of bad taste continues to this day. According to Emily Post the origin of this seems to be that originally it was difficult for a normal family to keep up the laundry to provide three fresh clean napkins every day for each person. Used but uncreased and unsoiled napkins would be reused by putting them in napkin rings.It is also considered poor taste to stuff the napkin in a glass. The napkin should be folded and placed on the plate. For those of us that follow Emily (forget Martha), napkin folding can be easy or difficult. When rented from ASAP Rental they are delivered in a square fold and can be placed on the plate as is. To add a little flair fold them in half and it will create a triangle. So much for simple.
